[August 15, 2011]

Summer isn't over, but Kappa is always in session! The sisters have just returned from a wonderful weekend in Baltimore, MD for our annual August National Convention! We got to see old sisters, meet new sisters, receive awards, watch presentations, and elect our new Central Council (our national executive board to oversee all of our 29 chapters and colonies) for the upcoming year.

Very exciting news, now that I mention Central Council! Our very own recent alumna and former two-year President, Sarah Spencer *Belldandy*, was elected to be our Regional Consultant for the 2011-2012 school year! CONGRATULATIONS SARAH! Omicron chapter has complete faith in you, and we look forward to continuing to work with you. We couldn't be more proud of you, and we know you are going to go far and continuing doing great things for Kappa Phi Lambda. :]

More exciting news from Convention. You might want to sit down for this one. Are you sitting? No? Seriously, take a seat. I'm not kidding. Okay, fine. Ignore me. Your hospital bill...
Omicron Chapter won Regional School of the Year within the Midwest for 2010-2011. WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO! I cannot contain my excitement! We are so proud of all of our hard work, and will continue working and improving our chapter to reach greater heights than ever. OSU REPRESENT!

Our official award. SO EXCITING!

That's all for now. I just had to let you know our great news! School starts soon, so we'll see you all back in Columbus in just a few short weeks! Live up the rest of your summer until it's back to the books!

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. I'm not ashamed to brag.

[June 3, 2011] On This Day in 2003...

It's that time of year again... Kappa Phi Lambda's annual banquet! We have just celebrated our 8th annual banquet and it was amazing, as usual. It was organized by our sisterhood chair, Krizzia Yanga *BAMF*, and she did an excellent job as we all gathered around our dinner plates to watch senior send-offs, emotional goodbyes, gifts to bigs, babies, and PEs, the formal introduction of our newest class, and so much more! An added twist for the enjoyment of our active sisters, we also had superlative awards which ranged from "Most Likely To Save The World" to "Most Likely To Get Arrested." Can you guess who got those two awards? Hehe. We all had a lot of fun laughing, playing games at the dinner tables, and seeing our year in review. Congratulations on a successful 8 years, Omicron chapter! I couldn't be more proud to be a sister of KPL. :]

4 Omicron Charters and Lambert, visiting us from NYC!

Two days after our Sunday banquet, Omicron chapter celebrated it's anniversary.
8 YEARS OF KAPPA PHI LAMBDA SORORITY, INC. AT THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY
Happy Birthday, Omicron!

And now the school year is over, everything has finished, and we're wrapping up all loose ends. (Including our Friday blood drive.) We hope you all have a GREAT summer, and we look forward to seeing everyone in the Fall! Good luck with exams, enjoy travelling abroad or home if you are leaving Ohio, and good luck with summer quarter if you are sticking around to take classes. Thank you all for the wonderful year. Our supporters make us who we are, and we couldn't host successful events without you! SEE YOU IN SEPTEMBER! <3

"Schoooool's out for summer." Sing along, folks!

[May 27, 2011] Strike a Pose

Kappas are always on the move! Last fall, Omicron chapter had the sickeningly cutesy idea to have a sisterhood photo shoot (after seeing our other lovely sisters nationwide do the same!), and so on May 20, 2011, we did it again! With two new classes, our photo was nearly twice as big as the last one, and it was great to see the pictures afterward. There were so many of us that our faces were barely able to be differentiated! Haha, just kidding. But it was great to physically have proof of how much we have grown this past year!

Spring 2011 Active House, minus a few.

Kappa Love... and Betrayal! Bahaha.

THE FUN NEVER ENDS. Just after our photo shoot, we went on our lovely second annual sisterhood retreat! Just an hour away, we stayed in a big cabin and spent 48 hours with just one another. Eating, drinking (diet coke), laughing, talking, making friendship bracelets... yes, we actually made friendship bracelets. On top of that, we spent some time talking about the highs and lows of our past year in order to improve our chapter for the upcoming school year! Always moving forward, there is no room here to take steps back!

Improving our chapter, one step at a time.

One more, you ready? We hosted our cultural event on the 26th, "Never Perfect" where we talked about women's body issues, specifically as it pertains to Asian American women today. It was a great success so we hope you were able to make it out. And if you weren't there, well... see you next time! You owe us one! ;]

That's enough updating for today, so until next time...

XOXO, Gossi-- wait, I mean.. Mazzei.

[May 17, 2011] Volunteer-aholics

On the 12th and the 17th, KPL went to the Mid-Ohio Food Bank to volunteer. On the 12th, it was SINGLES night!!! Unfortunately, none of our ladies found their perfect match, but that's okay, there's always next time. On the 17th, our girls also got to participate in a homelessness simulation, which I hear was very enlightening. Lin Haldeman *Maretti* recommends it to everyone, it is "a huge eye-opener." Unfortunately, I was unable to attend, but hopefully I'll be able to next time! It was the Mid-Ohio Food Bank's first time hosting the simulation, so I'm sure it will only get better each time! Look forward to it, and try to make it out. Learning and serving. That's what life is all about.

[May 15, 2011] It's Lonely At The Top

Haven't been paying attention to the archives? Specifically the Awards/Accomplishments section? Let me update you... Our chapter has won 5 awards within the past 4 days. That's right. One, two, three, four, FIVE AWARDS. Brush your shoulders off ladies, you're doing GREAT THINGS.

Awards included:
May 12th, 2011 - 50th Annual Leadership Awards Celebration, "Best Program - Iron Chef"
May 15th, 2011 - Greek Awards Celebration, "Most Improved Chapter"

May 15th, 2011 - Greek Awards Celebration, "Outstanding Recruitment-Intake Program"
May 15th, 2011 - Greek Awards Celebration, "Outstanding Philanthropy Program"

Omicron chapter... I'm so proud to call myself a Sister at OSU! *sniffsnifftear* Making waves; leaving a legacy! Keep it up!

Get on our level.

[May 8, 2011] Make New Friends, But Keep The Old

Do you recognize that song? I used to sing it in Girl Scouts all the time. Make new friends, but keep the old, one is silver and the other's gold. Anyways, on with the real update...

On Thursday, we held a mixer with the brothers of Pi Delta Psi Fraternity, Inc. The BBQ was full of delicious food, and our new classes got the opportunity to meet one another and form bonds that are sure to last them for a long time. They cooked the hamburgers and hotdogs, we brought the good stuff (pasta, vegetables, dessert... the stuff you look forward to!) Thanks for grilling, boys!

All the Cantonese Chinese Brothers/Sisters gathering for a picture at the BBQ on the left. Vietnamese Brothers/Sisters on the right. This always happens... Just two of the many ethnicity-centered pictures that night.

On Saturday, we had an MCGC-filled day! In the morning, the six chapters of MCGC (ΑΨΛ, ΔΞΦ, ΚΦΛ, ΠΔΨ, ΣΕΦ, and ΩΤΖ) gathered together at 9AM at Habit for Humanity to help the ReStore sort their donations and clean up the place. It was harder work for some (moving HEAVY doors from place to place), easier for others (watering plants), but in the end we all enjoyed helping out a good cause. Habitat for Humanity is a great organization that helps low-income families, and takes donations from people's old homes and resells things like appliances, doors, plants, and the like to people who need these items, but at a hugely discounted price. It was a good experience to help the ReStore organize, since they have apparently been low on volunteers this month! If you are looking to help someone out - consider Habit for Humanity!

Later that day, MCGC gathered once again for an EXCITING social at SkyZone Sports. What is SkyZone you ask? It is a HOUSE FULL OF TRAMPOLINES! We paid only $15 for 1.5 hours of jumping on trampolines, two slices of pizza, and a drink. A fabulous deal, if I do say so myself. Halfway through the evening (we went from 10PM to midnight) we had a dodgeball tournament! The chapters split up, mixing and mingling with new people from other chapters, to take the other team down! I'm proud to say my team WON... at first. With no help from me. (I have horrible aim.) But then when we played the all-girls game, my team continually lost... Sorry, ladies! Anyways, the trampoline house was AMAZING and a great workout. We were all tired, sweaty messes by the end of it. Your welcome for the yucky details! If you're bored and looking for something to do... 10/10 stars! An A+ recommendation. Mazzei seal of approval. :]

Look at Lin's ups!

Forget the silver, all my friends are GOLD!

[May 1, 2011] Rock the Block 2011 & Probate

Who likes community service? Kappa Phi Lambda does! One of our three pillars is Service, and we woke up at 7AM to meet at the Ohio Union in order to dedicate 4 hours of our day on Saturday, April 30 to give back to the community. We were sent off to help at a church ReStore in the Columbus area. Our jobs included sorting shoes, sorting clothing, helping the people who came to the ReStore check out, helping them check in, and other random odd jobs around the ReStore. It was great to help an organization that gives back to the needy and really benefits the Columbus community in a positive and tangible way.

Have you ever been to a probate? It is when a sorority or fraternity presents their newest class with a performance. This past Friday, our close friends of Pi Delta Psi Fraternity, Inc. had a probate show to show off their newest class, and in good fashion, we went to support. Congratulations to the Brothers and their new, hardcore class of eight brothers! Life is great with eight, right? :) Congrats from us to you!

People helping people. <3

[April 24, 2011] Miami 5 Year Anniversary!

Congratulations to our baby colony - Miami University in Oxford, Ohio! They just hit their 5 year anniversary, so if you know their Sisters... CONGRATULATE THEM! <3 We love you, Miami!

Miami Sisters with banner OSU Sisters made for their 5-Year Anniversary. <3

Happy Five Year Anniversary, Baby Colony!

[April 19, 2011] Busy, Busy Bees - Just How We Like It

So there hasn't been an update in a while, but never fear! The Sisters of Omicron Chapter have been staying busy! After our Murder Mystery Masquerade two Wednesdays ago, we had a celebration for our newly crossed Sisters (my babies!) at Mozaik in downtown Columbus. We had fun out on the dance floor, and partying the night away with those we love the most - each other (and you!) It was a great way to wind up our successful Spirit of the Phoenix week!

The following Monday we had a Sisterhood dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings to support the fundraising event put on by our governing council, MCGC. Doing what Kappas do best - eating mass amounts of food!

The fun doesn't stop there, on Friday we attended a cultural event hosted by the MCC (Multicultural Center) in the Ohio Union called, "What does it mean to be Asian in America?" Sisters were able to go and hear about other people's identity crises, and share their own with an educated audience. It was a good event for getting to dig deep into some of those tougher issues that we don't always get the opportunity to discuss.

Kappas can't get enough of one another! Just three days later we had another Sisterhood event (two Mondays in a row!) where we spent the time laughing, filming videos for banquet, messing with the controls in the Union room, and distracting one another from more important things - like homework! Don't worry, we let Sisters get back to studying eventually. ;] Just needed that weekly dose of Kappa Lovin'! <3

You thought I was done, didn't you? OH NO, MY FRIEND. NOT QUITE.
Just hours ago, Anna Li *Jozen*, Lin Haldeman *Maretti*, Michelle Zhu *Swizzle*, and Krizzia Yanga *BAMF* were coerced into eating weird, strange, bizarre, and - some may say - disgusting food in CASA's annual Fear Factor event. And... *drumroll* Omicron Chapter is SO PROUD to be the REIGNING CHAMPION. We have won not once, not twice, but THREE years in a row. That's right folks, THREE-PEAT. Hehe. :]
Kappas do it best.

The victors and their prize. PRIDE.

The bracket. KPL is victorious!

The fun never ends here at Omicron Chapter! We're gearing up for Greek Week now, so we'll see you all out there soon!
ΔΔΔ, ΔΤΔ, ΖΦΒ, ΑΓΣ, and ΚΦΛ. The pairing that will not fail!

Worn out? NEVER. It's all worth it! <3

[April 8, 2011] Save The Date

Like a good scandal? Enjoy weddings? Did you come to our 2nd Annual Murder Mystery Masquerade event on Thursday?
If not, you missed quite the event! A dead groom, an unfortunate accident with the ring bearer, a sneaky maid of honor, a guilt-ridden best man, and a plate full of delicious pasta were just a few of the many perks of the night.

What started out to be a peaceful wedding reception soon turned into one of horror as our groom died just an hour into the reception. With the room in chaos, guests were scrambling to figure out who among them had murder on the mind.

After clues were found and fingers were pointed, the men of ΠΚΑ Fraternity seemed to be in hot water. Not only did their man, the groom, experience an untimely death, but another one of their ranks, the ring bearer, met an unfortunate end! Acacia was stirring up trouble with a drunken Uncle wandering the premises, and a Priest with a southern accent wandering around letting people know his collar wasn't so white after all. Our lovely bride from ΔΔΔ didn't seem too upset at the passing of her new husband, and what was the deal with those Kappas running around spreading rumors?!

Luckily, by the end of the night, three guests were able to correctly piece together the evidence and concluded tha the best man had accidentally killed the groom! Why, you ask? He was trying to kill that random guest who had stolen his girl, the maid of honor! Oops... Guess he should have been more careful. But after an emotional breakdown from our best man, the murderer was put behind bars, and thanks to our sleuthing guests, we can all sleep peacefully in our beds... for now.

Suspects listening to murder accusations.

Thank you again to all who were able to attend! We were able to raise nearly $400 for our national philanthropy, NAPAWF, and we hope you were able to learn something about Immigration Issues from our speaker, Nick Torres. For those of you who were unable to attend, Nick is an immigration rights activist in the Columbus area, and he was able to come talk to us about immigration rights issues, the DREAM Act, and support our national platform "Where We Come From" for the night. Thank you again to Nick, and if you are interested in having him come to your event, or learning more, feel free to ask Krizzia Yanga *BAMF* for information on how to contact him. Also, a great thanks to our friends from ΔΔΔ Sorority, Acacia Fraternity, Vietnamese Student Association, ΠΔΨ Fraternity, and many more for attending and supporting our event!

We hope you had fun at our event, and if you didn't get to live through the night, well... Better luck next year!

Thank you from Kappa Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc.!

"'Til death do us part" has never been taken quite so literally...

[April 5, 2011] Jump the Generation Gap

Today we hosted our Cultural Event, "The Generation Gap: Growing Up In Asian America."

As more individuals from Asia immigrate to the United States, their children are raised in two very different worlds: one in a household of traditional Asian values and another surrounded by modern American society. While most people often encounter a generation gap between themselves and their parents, this gap is further widened by the cultural differences between immigrant parents and their first generation American children. What we intended to accomplish through this workshop is to shed light on the differences between Asian American students and their parents through a discussion of the misconceptions and misunderstandings we face with our parents.

Thank you to all who were able to come out and discuss with us the issues that face Asian Americans in today's community. We hope you learned a little bit about the problems faced by your peers, and we hope you were able to talk about your own experiences in order to educate the community. Don't forget - you aren't alone in these problems! Many people around you face the same challenges every day! Always look to friends for guidance and support when dealing with the unique challenges that come with being a minority in today's world.

Bridging the gap, one day at a time.

[April 3, 2011] Spirit of the Phoenix Week

This week, Kappa Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. Omicron Chapter will be hosting a week's worth of events dedicated to our national campaign "Where We Come From." Every chapter and colony of Kappa Phi Lambda nation-wide has hosted a "Spirit of the Phoenix" week to raise awareness for our national philanthropy, NAPAWF.
(National Asian Pacific American Women's Forum. http://www.napawf.org)

We hope that you will be able to join us this week to learn about NAPAWF's initiatives, and to support the sisters of Omicron Chapter. From immigration issues to the generational gap, we hope to explore issues relevant to the Asian American community in today's world.

Questions? Contact Krizzia Yanga *BAMF* or Ashley Coolman *Mazzei* for more information.

Go to Home>Calendars>Upcoming Events for more details on what we're offering this week!

[April 1, 2011] Going Once.. Going Twice.. SOLD!

Kappa Phi Lambda co-hosted a HUGELY successful Spring Fling Auction with Omega Tau Zeta Sorority, yesterday. If you weren't there, you really missed out! It was quite the sight to behold. Everything from dates, to ice cream baskets, to henna tattoos, to earrings, to... well, the list goes on! If you had been there, you would know. ;] The Spring Fling Auction also featured a stroll-off between the two sororities, and a special performance by the gentlemen of Pi Delta Psi Fraternity, Inc. Thank you to all who came out and supported the event, supported our sorority, and helped us in our cause! We ALWAYS appreciate you. <3

*Emery* up for auction.

Enjoy those dates, fellas! ;]

[March 14, 2011] We're Not Done Yet!

Our final update for Winter Quarter before we get to move on to a new start, a new quarter, and warmer weather. I'm sick of this ICE nonsense!

Just three days after the Xi Class crossed into Sisterhood, Kappa Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. celebrated its SIXTEEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY. Founded on March 9, 1995 at Binghamton University by our 7 amazing Founding Mothers, Kappa Phi Lambda has continued to grow and thrive throughout the years to become the outstanding sorority it is today with over 1,900 Sisters and counting. Congratulations, Kappa Phi Lambda! Thank you so much, Founding Mothers! You have no idea the joy you have brought to nearly 2,000 lives in just 16 short years. <3 Forever grateful for eternal Sisterhood.

Memories from the Fall 2010 Photoshoot.

Over the weekend, we sent our Sisters to Xi Chapter at Northeastern University for our yearly Convention. A weekend filled with workshops, Sisters, and, of course, food, reminded our girls why this Sisterhood is the best, just in time to come back and take their finals. Sisterhood, Service, and Cultural Diversity, ladies! Engraved in our hearts.

To everyone out there, I wish you good luck on your finals, the best of the best for Spring Break, warm weather and sunshine for Spring, and if you see our new girls parading around on campus, be sure to stop and say, "Congratulations!" See you in the Spring! I can't wait!

Founders' Day... The best day of the year!

[March 6, 2011] And the Xi Class Emerges

I would like to introduce our NEWEST, SHINIEST, MOST FABULOUS CLASS (after the Iotas, hehe) of the Omicron Chapter! THE XI CLASS! <3 MY BABIES! Along with my Co-PE and Trip, Anna Li *Jozen* these girls are the BEST babies a Mommy like me could ask for. ;) Hohoho. So without further ado, here they are:
#58 Divya Veluguri *Darwin* // Big Toy Rassavong *Felix*
#59 Vida Law *Latitude* // Big Charlene Cai *Veneta*
#60 Natalie Park *Revitalize* // Big Victoria Ng *Romeo*

The Xis, their Bigs, and their PEs.
I'm so proud of you girls! Congratulations on becoming the newest class of the Omicron Chapter! I couldn't have asked for a better class. <3 To all of you alumnae who may be reading this update... can you believe we've hit #60 already?!

Ohoho, I feel old. Babies and Littles, all in one year! <3

[February 27, 2011] Sisters, Blood, Sisters, Culture... Phew, March!

Ever played the game Taboo? I had only one time before this past Monday. Let me tell you... it's hilarious. You pick up a card and it has a word at the top. You have to describe that word and get your teammates to guess what the word is. BUT, there is also a list of words you CANNOT use on the card. Use the word and you lose that card! Let me tell you, it's hilarious to watch girls stumble and fumble as they try to come up with words that aren't on the card. Omicron chapter came together and played a slightly modified version of the game (no teams!), but it was a riot. More boardgames, please!

Tuesday, our chapter hosted a blood drive for the American Red Cross at Watts Hall on campus. The American Red Cross has been forced to cancel over 750 blood drives and more than 30,000 scheduled blood donations since January 1 due to the severe weather. As a result, blood donations are the lowest we have seen in a decade. We hoped to bring in some of those rare blood types that are actually very common within the Asian minority. Thank you to all who came out and helped a fellow human being. You can donate every 56 days. When was the last time YOU saved a life?

Saturday, we took a short road trip down to Miami University and visited our Sisters there. Baby Colony! <3 We love getting the chance to see outside Sisters, and we love being close to the only other Ohio chapter of Kappa Phi Lambda. Midwest love!

Finally, we wrapped up a VERY exciting week with the First Annual Cultural Showcase hosted by the Multicultural Greek Council! The showcase featured cultural song and dance from each of the six chapters on our governing greek council: ΑΨΛ, ΔΞΦ, ΚΦΛ, ΠΔΨ, ΣΕΦ, and ΩΤΖ. Chong Zhou *Kuromi*, Selina Tang *Pucca*, Loan Bui *Intention*, and Zhi-Qi Le *Volante* performed a traditional Japanese fan dance for the audience. It was extremely moving, and it made me feel at peace... I loved watching you girls! Thank you for making KPL proud! I was proud to be a part of this chapter as MCGC President. :)

Performing at the Cultural Showcase.

Help the American Red Cross help your friends, family, and Sisters. Donate often.

[February 19, 2011] Valentine's Day And Alumnae

I hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day this past Monday! If you didn't... better luck next year! ;) Don't worry, every day is a new day for looove. And that's all I have to say about that.

Today we had a potluck with our alumnae again. We've been blessed enough to have them in our lives a lot this quarter, since they are very busy women, and we had some delicious food. Girl's gotta eat, right?! Everyone cramped into my teeny, tiny apartment to swap stories, update one another on each other's lives, and eat some good home cooking. Okay, you caught me, I just brought a veggie plate. But other people had good food for the indulging, and we all walked out of there at least 5 pounds heavier. Just in time to hibernate until Sunday. :)

Every Kappa loves to do one thing... EAT!

[February 11, 2011] One Asian Nation 2011

Never heard of AAA/SASA's annual event, One Asian Nation? You're missing out on something great! An semi-formal event in which the Asian organizations of OSU's campus (and then some!) come together to queen Mister and Miss Asia! Our very own Krizzia Yanga *BAMF* competed for the title of Miss Asia this year, and although she did not win, we were so very proud of her efforts! Way to represent us well! She showed off her talents by performing Taekwando and impressively breaking a couple boards, AND a cinder block, cleanly in half. If you haven't seen it yet, it is quite the sight to behold. But even though she didn't win, we had a lot of fun supporting the event, eating some dinner, and watching the new Mister and Miss Asia get crowned for this year. Congratulations to the winners! See you next year!

Krizzia practicing her moves... watch out, Tiff!

Miss Congeniality: "That would be harsher punishment for parole violators, Stan... And world peace!"

[February 1, 2011] Bonding with the Brotherhood

The Asian-interest fraternity on OSU's campus, ΠΔΨ hosted their annual Lunar New Year Festival this past Monday. If you were unable to attend, you missed quite a show. They, of course, performed their famous Lion Dance for the audience, raffled off some prizes for the audience, and showcased a few other performances from other campus-groups. KPL was happy to attend and support our friends at their annual show, and if you didn't get the chance to attend this year, we hope you'll go next year!

Another Asian-interest fraternity, our friends from ΠΑΦ at the University of Michigan came down to visit our lovely sisters this past weekend. We hung out at Momo's, went to Mozaik, ate some food... the general hub-hub. Thanks for coming down to visit us, boys!

Holly *Leone* and some of the ΠΑΦ Brothers.

Sisterhood and Brotherhood. The best kinds of families.

[January 25, 2011] Bringing in the New Year with Sisterhood

Every few weeks, we host a Sisterhood event to bring ourselves back together as a group. Not that we don't spend all of our free time together ANYWAYS. This time, we met up at Michelle's house for an intended movie night with pizza and pop. Except... it ended up being a huge chatting-fest, and the television was never even turned on. Oh well, I guess! That's what you get when you join a Sisterhood. Too much talking! But lots of fun. <3

Gossip over movies, any day of the week.

[January 18, 2011] A Weekend with KPL

Saturday afternoon, the active Sisters of our chapter met up with our alumnae and some of the girls who are interested in joining our lovely chapter for lunch at Panera Bread. Soup and bagels abound! We feasted on carbs, and laughed the afternoon away. Except for some questionable vegetable cream cheese (what does that even mean?), the afternoon was a lot of fun and we had a great time meeting new faces and reuniting with old. Come out to eat with us next time!

On Monday, the Sisters of Kappa Phi Lambda woke up extra early on their day off in the name of the late, great Martin Luther King, Jr. to help the community. After waking up at a bright and early 7AM, we volunteered from 8AM-1PM, along with our fellow MCGC member Miguel Guevara from Lambda Theta Phi, at a company called Amethyst. The establishment provides addiction and trauma treatment for homeless women and their families. We felt blessed to be able to help out such a serving organization, and are glad they allowed us to lend a hand on that early morning when they were not even open themselves! The organization is doing great work, and they are always looking for more help, so if you are interested in lending a hand as well, you can find more information on their website (found here). I hope you have a great experience, just as we did!

'You Pick Two' and MLK. What could be better?

[January 11, 2011] Rocking 2011 Already!

Happy New Year to all of you out there! I hope you're enjoying your second week of 2011. I know I'm already busy, busy, busy! This past weekend, Kappa Phi Lambda hosted it's annual January conference where Sisters from all 28 schools came together in Flushing, New York to attend a series of mini workshops and discuss changes within our sorority since our last national conference in August. On Saturday, ate lunch with our lovely Sisters from Delta chapter, and on Sunday, we were able to enjoy the company of Sigma chapter and our Founding Mother Chae Yoo Park *Huckleberry* and her little from Iota chapter, Kristi Lee *K2*. We were also able to hang out with many of the brothers of ΠΔΨ, as they were having their conference in the same hotel last weekend! Though the weekend was tiring, it is always worth the 10 hour trip to go see our sisters! <3
By the way, we're currently in our second (and last) week of rush for Winter 2011 Xi Class, so if you're planning on coming out to rush KPL Omicron chapter, your time is running out! See you soon! (Check the rush link for the current rush schedule.)

Miss you already, NYC. Until next time.

[December 18, 2010] I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore...

You'd be right, Dorothy. We AREN'T in Kansas anymore. We have upgraded to a New York City of sorts. And by this, I of course mean... WELCOME TO A BRAND NEW LAYOUT! I know, I know. Long-awaited. But fear not, here it is! And isn't it beautiful? ;] Trust me, I've been anticipating this day more than you have. After far too many hours of work, very little sleep, and playlist after playlist of music, the finished product is here! Embark. Explore. Enjoy.

No more creativity left in my bones.

[December 14, 2010] Nu Class, With All the Toppings

So, you may be thinking to yourself, "Gosh, Mazzei, it has really been a long time since you put an update here. Has Omicron chapter really not done anything all quarter?" And if you're thinking that, I apologize. In fact, we have been so incredibly busy, that I have not had the time to update! A poor excuse, I know, but it is the best I have. I am working on a completely new layout for this website, as I am sick of looking at this one.

In the meantime, allow me to introduce you to Omicron chapter's newest class, the Nu Class! You'll notice all 8 of them lined up, with their lovely PEs (and my Line Sisters) Lin Haldeman *Maretti* and Holly Choi *Leone* sitting up front! Congrats to these newest girls! Welcome to the KPL family.

Another new addition to Omicron family, our alumni Amy Hsu *Alkaline* took a little in the Miami University Colony Epsilon Class! Welcome to the OSU family, *Obsidian*!

*Alkaline* and *Obsidian*

In other news, in case you were unable to make it out to our events this quarter, our philanthropy event PomeSCREAM Hall and our main cultural event Iron Chef went off without a hitch, so many thanks if you came, and we hope to see you in the Winter at our next events if you didn't! For the sake of saving space here, I will discontinue updating you now. See you all in January!

Look forward to that new layout, coming soon to theaters near you! xxx

[September 16, 2010] Neo Retreat for Winter/Spring 2010

I said I was going to give you an update on how much fun our Mu class had at the Neo Retreat, didn't I? Well I have a direct quote from Mae LaPresta *Delizia* on their adventures at the University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP - Chi Chapter)! But first, if you are confused as to what this "Neo Retreat" is, it is a convention held for all Sisters who crossed (joined Kappa Phi Lambda) during Spring Semester 2010, or Winter/Spring Quarter 2010. They all meet up at one school and bond over the course of a weekend on how glad they are to be Sisters! Quite exciting, really. :]
So now, here is your quote from Mae:
"Neo retreat was a fantastic experience for me; I had so much fun! One of the benefits of being in a sorority is being able to meet tons of new girls, girls that I would have never even gotten a chance to meet otherwise. I made so many friends, from all over the US, and we are definitely going to keep in touch. In fact, since we road trip so much, I know that I'll get to see many of them soon. I <3 Winter/Spring class '10 girls!!"
And there you have it. A fun time was had by all.

Maybe one day you'll get to go to a Neo Retreat too. :]

[August 18, 2010] NYC a.k.a. National Yearly Conference

As we all know, that's not actually what NYC stands for, but our annual August National Conference is held every year in the great city of New York! This year, Omicron chapter sent 9 sisters to the Big Apple for the weekend (August 13-15). After a tiring 10 hour drive (12 hour drive for the slow car - which I was thankfully not in ;]) our girls arrived safely to our Kappa-infested hotel. During the meeting, we elected our new national Central Council board, met new friends, hugged old friends, and... drum roll please...
Introduced Our Newest Chapter:
CHI CHAPTER at
University of Maryland, College Park
Congratulations girls! It was personally my first time attending August Nationals, and I know I had a brilliant weekend. What a successful weekend for all!
Coming up next weekend is Neo Retreat for our lovely Mu Class so look out for their status updates on how it went! And then school starts soon, so we'll see you all back at OSU!

Until next time...
