Chapter Philanthropy

Every chapter and colony of Kappa Phi Lambda chooses a local philanthropy organization to support in their endeavors. Usually supported with monetary donations and spreading awareness about their organization on campus, our chapter works to help and encourage their development in the community, in order to make Columbus a better place to live.

We hope you'll keep an eye out for all of our upcoming philanthropy events, and help us support our amazing organizations that are working to create a better world for our generations and generations to come.

Our Chapter Philanthropy is Giving Back Life.
Giving Back Life, a non-profit organization that aims to love and empower the underprivileged children of China, providing eternal hope for a brighter future, was actually founded by a team of individuals that include two of our alumnae, Alberta Lui and Lily Hsu.

Giving Back Life first began in 2008 but didn't actually start kicking off until 2011. After the founder, Daniel Lui, paid a visit to the rural city of Yu-Lin, China, in 2008, his eyes were opened "social context of healthcare in a developing world, and increased [his] desire to make a difference in it. [He] saw hundreds of sick, elderly people walk miles upon miles on dirt-laden roads to clinic sites. At an orphanage where the children came from heart-wrenching backgrounds and had so little, [he] saw them go about their day-to-day lives with so much joy. [He] visited three preeminent hospitals in the city and found [himself] horrified at the health conditions. All the sites were remarkably unsanitary and over-crowded, with countless beds placed in the hallways due to insufficient space. The most shocking sight was of the pediatric floors, which often had two children crammed onto a single hospital bed!

After this eye opening experience, Giving Back Life was founded upon the notion of providing healthcare, shelter, food, and other benefits for the underprivileged children in China. The Omicron Chapter of Kappa Phi Lambda works to plan events to fundraise for this great cause.
